  • Crowns & Bridges:

Once your dentist has examined your teeth and has evaluated your dental and medical history, he/she will be ready to provide a diagnosis, and treatment options. A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to it's original form and function, while a bridge may be utilized to replace one or more teeth. These restorations are cemented onto the teeth and are referred to as "fixed" dentistry as opposed to a restoration of missing teeth with a removable appliance or partial denture.

  • Dentures:

Dentures are another way of replacing missing teeth, and in some cases might be the only option. They can be made of acrylic(plastic) or metal. A “complete” or ‘full’ denture replaces all natural teeth in either upper or lower jaws, while a partial denture fills in spaces left by lost or missing teeth. They are usually fastened to your teeth with metal clasps. Alother innovation is ‘flexi’ dentures. Please speak to your dentist about details.

  • Endodontics (root canal treatment):

Endodontics or root canal treatment, as it is more commonly known, is a procedure carried out to treat an infected/dead/damaged root canal. The aim is to remove all infection and to clean and fill the canals to prevent any further infection. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure. Most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits to your dentist. At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. Any abscesses, which may be present, can also be drained at this time. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled.

  • Preventive Dentistry:

This aims to get your  mouth really healthy, to try and prevent any dental problems returning. It might include

  • A visit to the hygienist who will remove all plaque and calculus off your teeth. Plaque is a big culprit in most dental problems.
  • You might be told which oral care products are the best ones for you to use.
  • discuss diet and any habits such as smoking and drinking with you.
  • ensuring that all your fillings are in good condition and there are no rough edges to make cleaning difficult.
  • Fluorides & Fissure sealants might also be recommended
